Mohamet Summy is thought to have been a foreign ambassador in London. This portrait of him was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1787. His splendid silk robes and turban are sumptuously depicted, as is the long string of natural pearls around his neck. His Eastern features are delicately portrayed and even after two hundred years, Russell’s rich coloring remains.
